Collecting Overseas Records on Korea

Objective
  • Collecting overseas records on Korea to procure primary research materials for studies on modern and contemporary history of Korea and to support for Korean Studies research.
Main Activities
  • Collects digitized records on Korea held by overseas libraries
    • Collected records on Korea held by the U.S. National Archives and Records Administration (NARA)
  • Organizes records collected from overseas institutions
    • Classifies and catalogues overseas records on Korea
    • Created the table of contents databases and the full-text databases for overseas records on Korea
  • Providing User Service
    • Guides users in searching and using materials
    • Announces newly arrived materials on the NLK's website; provides annotations and full-texts
    • Promotes the services provided by the NLK and cooperates with relevant institutions in Korea to boost service use
    • Operates Korea in the Eyes of Overseas Records, an official blog by the NLK
