The National Library of Australia (NLA) has made the full archive of the Hanho Times, a Korean community newspaper published in Sydney from 1985 to 1995, available online through its digital platform, Trove. This digitization project was supported by the Korean Cultural Centre (KCC) in Sydney.

For a decade, the Hanho Times played a key role in connecting the Korean migrant community in Australia, helping to foster a sense of identity and solidarity. The paper covered not only local news but also major developments in Korea, cultural exchanges, and immigration policies.

Notably, the 5th anniversary edition published in January 1990 featured a congratulatory message from then-Australian Prime Minister Bob Hawke. That same year, Korea was the guest nation at the Sydney Royal Easter Show (April 6–17, 1990), where it showcased performances, crafts, and cuisine. The paper also reported on Korean Air’s announcement of a new direct route between Seoul and Sydney.

The newspaper included advertisements from local Korean businesses—such as grocery stores, restaurants, and private academies—and offered extensive coverage of immigration issues, including events like the 1990 National Immigration Outlook Conference held in Melbourne.

The digitization of the Hanho Times is regarded as a significant effort to preserve the voices of past migrant communities and to reflect on the identity and cultural legacy of today’s Korean diaspora in Australia.
