In accordance with this agreement, the two organizations will cooperate on the following activities: collecting and sharing knowledge and information resources; digitization and sharing knowledge and information resources; supporting academic and research activities and hosting academic conferences; sharing and providing access to data to promote the utilization of national policy information; and projects to promote the advancement of the two organizations and their friendship.
As the flagship library of South Korea, the National Library of Korea conducts a wide range of activities, including collecting and sharing both domestic and international knowledge and information resources, training library professionals, and conducting research for the advancement of libraries. The International Peace Foundation was established in 2006 as a non-profit organization jointly funded by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the government of Jeju Special Self-governing Province with a goal of providing a focal point for international exchange and research on the promotion of peace on the Korean Peninsula and regional cooperation in East Asia.
“The NLK is the nation’s flagship library and the International Peace Foundation is a leading organization in the field of research, education, and exchanges on behalf of promoting international peace. Through mutual cooperation, it is hoped that the two organizations can contribute to sharing knowledge and information resources, supporting academic and research activities, and facilitating data-sharing services for the promotion of the use of national policy information,” said Chief Executive Suh Hye Ran.
