A training workshop for overseas Korean language instructors was held
The Korea Foundation (KF, President Lee Geun) successfully completed four rounds of a training workshop for Korean language instructors for the KF Online Korean Class (“OK Class”) from August 5 to 30, 2022.
The OK Class was launched last year based on an MOU between the KF and the organization Korean at Your Door (KAYD) with a goal to connect visually impaired Korean language instructors and overseas students majoring in Korean Studies. The Korean language classes are offered on a one-to-one basis by phone or video call.
The integrated online-offline workshop was offered this year as part of the two organizations’ efforts to continue the program and help strengthen the capacities of its lecturers. The workshop consisted of educational theory for listening, reading, speaking, and grammar, and on understanding the characteristics of Russian, Vietnamese, and Indonesian learners of Korean.
In the session on understanding the characteristics of learners, KF professors who teach Korean Studies or Korean language at universities in Russia, Vietnam, and Indonesia participated in the session as speakers and shared their experiences and insights.
After the workshop, the KYAD lecturers provided Korean language classes by phone or by video to Korean Studies students at eight universities in the three countries (Lomonosov Moscow State University, National Research University Higher School of Economics Moscow Campus, Herzen State Pedagogical University, Far Eastern Federal University, University of Languages and International Studies in Hanoi, University of Social Sciences and Humanities – HCMC National University, Indonesia University of Education, and Gadjah Mada University). The classes continued until the end of November.
